Finding Meaning – Living with Intention, Leave with Purpose

August 3-7, 2025 | Doreen Young

ABOUT THE SERIES:

Through our lives, we experience two pivotal moments of transformation: birth and death. Both occur without our conscious awareness, leaving us feeling as though we are riding an uncontrollable wave—thrust into life and, eventually, into death.

When we courageously and bravely accept our death and deeply explore the process, only then can we live fully and authentically. This retreat will guide you through five domains that encourage reflection on your thoughts and feelings about your final transformation. By delving into these domains, we can break through blocks, confront fears, and embrace the opportunity to live consciously and authentically.

Join us during your Mii amo Journey for one, two or all six 90-minute sessions.

Doreen Young

For as long as I can remember, I have been deeply drawn to supporting others through life’s most profound transitions. My journey began with a personal experience that showed me the profound beauty and challenges of end-of-life care. That experience ignited a passion to walk alongside others during this sacred time.

Doreen’s interest in end-of-life care started when one of her best friends was terminal with cancer. It was an eye-opener to how much we avoid talking about death when it’s right in front of us. It was the lack of acknowledgment and the fear of confronting it that led her on her path. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Ft. Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and her End-of-Life Coaching Certificate from the Conscious Dying Institute in Boulder, Colorado, where she also completed her Death Doula training. She has volunteered with hospice and spent time with many clients, with the majority of her experience being with memory-care clients.

With years of hands-on experience and training, I have developed a compassionate approach that integrates practical guidance with heartfelt empathy. I believe in honoring each individual’s journey, creating a space where they feel seen, heard, and supported. My background in these fields has equipped me to provide not just physical and logistical care but also emotional and spiritual support for individuals and their loved ones.

Doreen believes that the best way to be authentic in life is to talk about death. By exploring our feelings around how we want our death to be, we can truly embrace how we want to live. By bravely accepting these hard conversations, we can authentically live our lives.

In offering this retreat, my hope is to share the insights and tools I’ve gathered to help you approach end-of-life care with courage and compassion. Whether you are a caregiver, a professional in the field, or someone preparing to support a loved one, this retreat is designed to nurture and empower you. Together, we will explore ways to bring peace, presence, and connection to one of life’s most meaningful chapters.

When I’m not guiding others through this work, I find solace in hiking, skiing and reading, which reminds me of the preciousness of life and the importance of being present in each moment. I look forward to meeting you and holding space for your journey.
